I am 42 years old, I am married and have a 19 year old daughter and a lovely extended family. I have been attending church for 10 years. I have 15 year's as my career in banking as Risk Manager. Until now, a very limited knowledge of Bible verses and general notion of the history of salvation.
Many many times I thought that it would be nice to attend Bible studies somewhere, but "somewhere" was always far from my hometown and/or offered at impossible schedules (definitely not for working women).
One day I got an email announcing the opening of 2 courses at EDM: the place was right here in Heredia and the schedules very convenient so I enrolled.
It is difficult to express the impact of what God had done along my first quarter in EDM. What God taught us through Victor, in the Spiritual Growth course, has been a powerful tool for making me fall more and more in love with Jesus and it has made me seek a much more personal relationship with Him; less guilt, less stress, much more love. I have learned that everyday I DESPERATELY NEED to ask for God's favor so that I may live the way he wants me to live. I NEED to recognize my failures, test my actions, and commit to surrender. I have started to actually read the Bible in a more regular way and hear God's voice in it !!!!
I initially enrolled in the course on Apologetics because I thought there were no other options, but since there were actually 2 courses conveniently packed in one single night I decided to take both of them. The material is ample and detailed, and God has given Jose an extraordinary gift for teaching. During the first lessons we were studying the Trinity, the Holy Spirit and Jesus' deity among some other fundamental concepts. I was delighted of course, and hoping I would get a chance to talk to someone who needed to know these truths. I knew it was very valuable material but there were somethings that I thought "this is interesting but when am I going to use this?", because they seemed so distant and radical... like Islam. Then within a few days my family was in chaos because my niece was leaving to marry a Muslim boy that she met through the Internet. She was convinced that she wanted to become a Muslim. She had already bought the airplane ticket and her Catholic parents were not at all prepared to answer the big confronting questions in her heart... but I did !!!! God put the exact material in my hands though EDM, just when we needed it !!!! We are seeing His powerful hand in transforming my niece's heart.
Blessed be the Lord, worshiped be His name, for He has taken care of us and brought us His word through EDM. Every time I sit down to listen to a class I thank God in my heart for the school, for the facilities. I am grateful for each table and each chair, the snacks and tea, the clean restrooms, the nice, warm, clean environment. It is very exciting to see that we almost do not fit in there anymore because so many people are attending these courses. I am amazed at the way God uses Victor, Jose and Nichol, they are full of love and make us feel valued and welcomed, always taking care of every detail and serving in every possible way.
Well, this is the story so far, only one quarter from the start ! I cannot wait to see what God has for us in the coming courses.
